Learning a new programming language: Ruby

Website programming used to be simple...basic HTML + some dynamic javascript and graphics (gif, jpg) but it all changes dramatically over the years and we witness the birth of web applications using PHP, ASP, JSP, JAVA, .NET and database driven forums and websites that spit out dynamically changing websites that had join the programmers and the users.

The challenge today is to create a website that is user friendly to non-IT literate users to use and navigate the website, such as creating a panel to allow users to change the website contents without writing a single code....much like a blog that some non-IT users are using right now to share their ideas and thoughts. It's using those WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) interfaces that allow users to become content creators and no longer spend hours to format a HTML files and change the color of the website and fonts since there are CSS to set these to format the whole website to conform to a single standard.

The new ruby language is like a simplistic language that "should" not take forever to setup, debug and maintain....from what I had read from the should be relatively quick to start a website with full blog capabilities within 15 minutes and possibly able to present to clients within a few days of designing....instead of the previous languages that need plenty of planning, configuration and eventually need lot's of time to Ruby should be a simple language to learn.

The first site I am using to learn ruby right now is which let me try out the various capabilities of ruby...and frankly...I am amazed on how advanced Ruby's like a AI (Artificial Intelligence) program that I had tried long time ago that can detect and understand what you are trying to write and spit out the right answers base on what you had asked!

I will continue to update this page using the category/label "Ruby on Rails" on my journey of learning this programming language!

Internet first try.

I had never trusted internet banking...even after many advertisement and persuasions from friends...but the times had changed and it's time to take up investing as well...using a internet banking account.

My friend given me the direct link to DBS Internet Banking Application URL.

Seems like a pretty secure I decided to try it out.

Lowem recommended FundSuperMart for start...and it's my first try so it's very exciting to go to the edge that I have never been able to invest the hard earn money...into something ...the unknown...

The reason I had quit the 4D lottery back few years ago because I had won 1st prize $7000 on my birth date 2178...and systematically lose everything back within a short period of time. It's a lucky beginner's luck. Since then, I realized that gambling is not the way to earn money and there are no free lunch in this world.

Investment seems like a much more challenging way to needs lot's of research and understanding of economics. There are several "experts" that love to let everyone know that they are right about some stuff but it's hard to trust or believe everything people say especially their rice bowls depends on it.

So no fund managers for me, as a peak oil believer...(future oil depletion causing energy crisis) I seems to able to grasp some idea behind oil prices and possible future price may be. The prediction might always be on the high side with profit taking on occasion. The news to look out for oil prices are almost all similar...and I know where to find these news the fastest possible time.

Oil, the most influential commodity ever will affects several other commodities such as Gold, Silver, Uranium, Grain, Lithium and companies that are related to nuclear energy or renewable energies. Biofuel and some other stuff as the new era of investment is out....the peak oil event might be the one news most investors can only dream of...

Beware of the future thou, investment can only exist if the basic economic infrastructure are available to trade...and the cost of trading is lower. Given the examples of a total meltdown of the economy such as a depression based on exaggerated high cost of energy that fuel the electricity, transportation and food production (fertilizer is natural gas and pesticides are oil) plus political and social chaos...investment might be jeopardize severely...

But of won't be total shut down of the trading centre unless there is a major black out like those countries that having rolling black outs due to the high "demand" that overshot the power generation capacities...of the power plants. Usually these electricity will be given priorities to trading and essential facilities like hospitals and Police maintain order...but it will affect many other areas like manufacturing, retails and residential housing...creating higher cost of electricity.

Now....invest or not...well unless there is world war will always be there and no matter what we bet on futures trading...or the research well...before jumping right into the heart of it...of course with a good friend that are well verse into guide you along will be the best. Hehe

Thanks Lowem!

Ten Tips to Prevent Getting Cheated by 'Make-Money-Online-Websites

If you buy some stuff from a shop or mall in your city and are not satisfied with its quality, you can promptly go back to the shopkeeper and register your grievance easily. But have you ever been scammed by any website or online offer? Those who have wasted money on online offers on internet understand the pain of being cheated and not being able to get their money back. They also start believing erroneously that online transactions mostly are risky.

This article arms you with rock solid information to save you from such situations. And this is especially for those who want to make money online. Anybody who wants to make a living from internet must scrutinize the 'make-money-online-websites' keeping in mind the following points.

1. Associations
Websites and companies which run their affiliate programs through and are generally reliable. Clickbank for example directs its merchants to refund the money to the buyer if he or she is not satisfied. If you are not satisfied with the credit card manager of the website in question, don't buy!

2. Look for 'how it works'
If the website gives you detailed information as to 'how' their system or software works, that generates reliability. Some sites on the other hand use suspense to create curiosity and do not reveal how their system works and they exaggerate the quality and features of their product, but that strategy may be fraught with scam. An example of a visitor friendly site is ''. Go have a look.
An honest site would appear to say-"Look, this is what we offer, and it's up to you to decide whether or not to buy". And a dishonest site would appear to say- "This is the best system/ software/ e-book on the planet. Buy it now or you will be a loser! We offer two dozen bonuses with our product."

3. Read FAQ
Good websites have a detailed FAQ section. Always read it before buying. Many revelations are buried deep in the FAQ pages. For instance, on a 'paid surveys' website FAQ page you may find that it is not that useful for your country if you live outside USA.

4. Testimonials
Testimonials may or may not be real. Believe only if you see some big and reliable names of that niche and/or if email address or web address of the person giving testimonial is also included.

5. Proofs- Clickbank account images
Many sites show images of their Clickbank affiliate account to show how much money they are minting. While the images may be real the income shown may be from a system other than what is claimed by the webmaster. You can not verify it.

6. Countdown timer and time limited prices
You must have seen those countdown timers and those 'buy before this Tuesday' offers. You go to the same site after the expired time or date and you will find the same timer ticking and the offer extended to another Tuesday. That exposes what those webmasters think you are.

7. Don't fall for free stuff and bonuses
Keep your focus on the product which you are looking for and not for the bonuses, or you might end up with a compromised product just because you were blinded by the lure of free stuff.

8. Go and find in a forum
It always pays to read some unbiased testimonials in a forum. Just type the name of the product followed by 'forum' in Google search box and you will get all the opinions of those who have used that software or system. An added advantage is that you get comparisons with other similar softwares or systems.

9. Customer Support
Good websites have high-quality customer support and promptly reply to your emails before and after purchasing the product. The tricksters will not reply especially if you ask for a refund.

10. Listen to your conscience
After analyzing the points described above, incubate everything in your mind and forget about it at least for a day. Human brain does wonders at subconscious level. Thereafter listen to your inner voice and decide whether or not to buy the product.

So next time you see a site asking you to buy their product, use these x-ray techniques to see what you will really get if you buy. Uncovering their malicious intention is not difficult.
